TEAM

Scott Polansky

As the sole employee of Loring, Scott is the lead software developer, customer care rep and strategic planner. If you love the work of Loring, buy him a beer because he's solely responsible for it. If you think Loring sucks, well, it's entirely his fault.

He founded Loring after working in the financial industry for roughly a decade at several global financial firms doing mathematical modeling as an actuary. His never-ending education includes bachelor's degrees in Actuarial Science from the University of Minnesota and Computer Science from Oregon State University—in progress is a Master of Science from the University of Texas at Austin where he is learning even more about computer science. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) and a member of the Association for Computing Machinery.

Outside of work he's a washed-up rugby player who now spends his days running, skiing, reading and thinking about computers. His favorite part of the day is usually when he's methodically hand-brewing his cup of coffee each morning using a Hario V60. He likes to think he's a hardcore punk because he occasionally listens to Hüsker Dü, but he's not a punk at all.
